WORSHIP IN PRAYER

*Worship Through Prayer*
Luke 1:46-55

*And Mary said:“ My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,”*        Luke 1:46-47
Worship is man’s highest duty to God. It provides an avenue for man to express love and loyalty to the God who created him in His likeness. When worship does not come from the heart, it is not acceptable to God. This is because the human heart is the center of his affection, and our worship to God must be based on our love for Him. When we pray, we are simply acknowledging the supremacy of God over us and our challenges. And that is worship.

Mary visited Elizabeth in response to the angel’s revelation that she was six months pregnant. On arrival, there was the manifestation of the presence of God which led Mary to worship God through prayer, praise and thanksgiving. In her prayer, she never drew attention to herself. She, instead, magnified the might, mercy and supremacy of God over her life. She also revealed the need to maintain a humble disposition while praying.

God wants His children to live a life of worship, full of humility and focused on His sovereign wisdom and power. This understanding will always help you attribute all glory to Him for His gracious works in your life. Is your prayer worshipful or self-willed? Examine yourself today and make the changes you need to.

Insight: Prayer should be an act of worship with God at the center.

Prayer: Father, you deserve my worship. Help me humbly pray in submission to your will.
