TRANSFORMED DISCIPLE

Transformed Disciple                                         Romans 12:1-2
*“Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship”.* Romans 12:1

In the past, masters used to buy slaves. The slave then became the property of the master for a set period and even after that time, some slaves freely chose to belong to their masters for a lifetime. Such slaves lived a life fully committed to their masters and their livelihood depended on their master’s will and purposes. Apostle Paul would compare his allegiance to Jesus as being “a bond servant of the Lord Jesus.”

Paul appeals to the disciples to have the mind of a bond servant, fully committed to the good pleasure of Christ and yielding body and mind completely to God’s control. Paul added that believers should not be conformed to the world but be transformed by the renewal of the mind. The word of God is the renewing agent, which also helps to purify and direct the mind towards God’s will.

As disciples of Christ, we become transformed when we deliberately engage our mind in God’s word and apply its truth in our daily living.  How much of God’s word we know and live by, is what transforms us into Christ-likeness. The believer has to surrender completely to the Lordship of Christ. The Word then directs the believer into the Christ-like lifestyle.

Insight: Transformation is a gradual process that takes place in a life yielded to God.

Prayer: Dear Lord, open my eyes that I may see the wonders of your Word so I may thirst for it daily.
