WORSHIP IN PRAYER

Image
* Worship Through Prayer*               Luke 1:46-55   *And Mary said:“ My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,”*        Luke 1:46-47 Worship is man’s highest duty to God. It provides an avenue for man to express love and loyalty to the God who created him in His likeness. When worship does not come from the heart, it is not acceptable to God. This is because the human heart is the center of his affection, and our worship to God must be based on our love for Him. When we pray, we are simply acknowledging the supremacy of God over us and our challenges. And that is worship. Mary visited Elizabeth in response to the angel’s revelation that she was six months pregnant. On arrival, there was the manifestation of the presence of God which led Mary to worship God through prayer, praise and thanksgiving. In her prayer, she never drew attention to herself. She, instead, magnified the migh...

WAY OF ESCAPE

Image
* Way of Escape *                                        1 Corinthians 10:1-13 *“No temptation[c] has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted[d] beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted,[e] He will also provide a way out so that you can endure it”*. 1 Corinthians 10:13 When constructing a house, the law requires that there must be provision for a way of escape in case of emergency. When believers face temptation, God always provides a way out so that we don’t just give in and fall into sin. Each time we overcome; we grow.  In this scripture, Apostle Paul brings to our attention that the children of Israel faced many trials, challenges and temptations along the way, as they returned to the Promise Land from Egypt, the land of their captivity. Unfortunately, instead of turning to God, trusting and dependi...

THE FRUIT TEST

Image
The Fruit Test                                               Matthew 7:15-20 *“Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.”* Matthew 7:17 There is a common saying that, “Actions speak louder than words.” A person’s true character shows in what they do and not necessarily in what they say. People’s true colors will eventually come out, no matter how good they are at pretending to be what they are not.    False prophets were prevalent in Jesus’ times and Jesus warned His disciples about them and their pretentious ways. So, when Jesus said, “by their fruit you shall know them,” what did He mean? The works and character of the false prophets will show who they really are. If a prophet tells lies, cheats, defrauds, is selfish, seeks fame, displays worldliness and is unloving, then he is false.    Beware of tea...

THE LORD'S CASE AGAINST ISRAEL

Image
Hosea 4:1-19 (KJV) 1 Hear the word of the LORD, ye children of Israel: for the LORD hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land. 2 By swearing, and lying, and killing, and stealing, and committing adultery, they break out, and blood toucheth blood. 3 Therefore shall the land mourn, and every one that dwelleth therein shall languish, with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of heaven; yea, the fishes of the sea also shall be taken away. 4 Yet let no man strive, nor reprove another: for thy people are as they that strive with the priest. 5 Therefore shalt thou fall in the day, and the prophet also shall fall with thee in the night, and I will destroy thy mother. 6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children. 7 A...

TRANSFORMED DISCIPLE

Transformed Disciple                                         Romans 12:1-2  *“Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship”.* Romans 12:1 In the past, masters used to buy slaves. The slave then became the property of the master for a set period and even after that time, some slaves freely chose to belong to their masters for a lifetime. Such slaves lived a life fully committed to their masters and their livelihood depended on their master’s will and purposes. Apostle Paul would compare his allegiance to Jesus as being “a bond servant of the Lord Jesus.”    Paul appeals to the disciples to have the mind of a bond servant, fully committed to the good pleasure of Christ and yielding body and mind completely to God’s control. Paul ad...

GOD'S UNFAILING LOVE

Image
God’s Unfailing Love                                  Psalms 36:7-12  *“How priceless is your* *unfailing love, O God!*   *People take refuge in the* *shadow of your wings.”* Psalms 36:7 Children often enjoy visiting their grandparents. Grandparents show them unusual love, filled with endless care, patience, compassion, tenderness, and understanding. The social environment around grandparents is friendly and free. To the grandchild, this unconditional acceptance gives room for pleasure, celebration, feasting and fun.  In our passage, David wrote about the endless love of the Lord to those who believe in God. Through His unfailing love, God feeds His people abundantly and they are delighted in His presence. When we give ourselves wholly to the Lord, He alone becomes our surest refuge. God accepts those who make Him their refuge and takes responsibility for them. God’s unf...
